Food Additive Emulsifiers Linked To Inflammation And Colon Cancer

These two suspicious sounding food additives are chemical emulsifiers with detergent-like molecules used in many foods to counteract the separation of oil and water mixtures and to add texture, smoothness, and solidity to recipes in many processed foods which include:

margarine                  mayonnaise                      creamy sauces

candy                            ice cream                           packaged

processed food                    cooking sprays       Chewing Gum               baked goods                    

nonorganic dill pickles      frozen desserts      salad dressing                food shortening                 

 fast food shakes       non-dairy creamers


The peer-reviewed study at Georgia State University was an animal study that showed after normal ingestion of the emulsifiers for just 13 weeks digestive issues resulted because the mucus lining of the stomach was compromised and the healthy microbes in the gut were reduced while the bad microbes related to inflammation had increased.

Healthy mice then showed weight gain, low-grade inflammation and an increase in harmful gut microbes that lead to colon cancer, as the study concluded there were inflammation and tumor growth on the colon as compared to the control group.

Currently, the FDA recognizes these food additives as safe.

You may not even realize you have a low-grade inflammation, and this could be why you are not feeling as well or you’re just experiencing more fatigue. Since inflammation is the root of most diseases it is important to have a simple CRP test to determine if inflammation is occurring.
